The infection has taken hold. You must survive.
Gaea’s defeat was supposed to end the Second Giant War. Her physical form was destroyed, the giants were defeated, and the demigods finally believed they had survived the worst of it. What nobody knew was that Gaea had prepared one final contingency. When her body was destroyed, her essence didn’t simply disappear. It spread through humans. Millions of people unknowingly became hosts to tiny fragments of Gaea. It spreads through spores. Nobody is safe. Anybody can get infected, demigod or mortal. The resulting phenomenon becomes known as the Bloom. Infection doesn’t follow a consistent pattern. Some people develop physical mutations or strange abilities connected to earth and nature. Others experience subtle changes in their thoughts and behavior. Some become violent or completely lose control. The most dangerous hosts, however, look completely normal. Each fragment contains a small portion of her consciousness, and the fragments can communicate with one another. An infected person might begin hearing another voice in their head, experiencing memories that aren’t theirs, or knowing things they should have no way of knowing. Some hosts fight the influence and remain themselves; others willingly embrace it. Camp Half-Blood immediately goes into full lockdown. Nobody leaves without permission, nobody enters without being checked, and even campers are treated as potential infection risks. Some are desperately trying to remain themselves. Others believe Gaea’s return is necessary to restore the natural world. Some want to destroy Olympus, while others simply want the voice in their head to stop. Nobody knows whether removing a fragment is possible, whether doing so would kill the host, or whether destroying individual fragments actually harms Gaea. The more hosts there are, the more connected they become. Gaea may no longer exist as a single being—but she is slowly becoming something much larger.

Percy is one of the camp’s strongest fighters and has been helping organize the lockdown. He’s exhausted but otherwise unharmed. He’s particularly concerned about campers who have gone missing outside the camp.

Annabeth took a nasty hit during the initial chaos and has a badly bruised shoulder. She’s still refusing to rest and has essentially appointed herself as one of the people running camp security.

Nico has been using his powers repeatedly to investigate disturbances around the camp’s borders. The effort has left him physically drained, but he remains capable of fighting.
Physical: Black hair usually pulled into a ponytail, electric-blue eyes, athletic build, and a noticeable scar near her face. Status: Uninfected — Healthy. Jason suffered a fractured rib during the initial response to the outbreak. He’s still participating in patrols despite being ordered to stay in the infirmary.
Physical: Dark curly hair, golden-brown eyes, medium height, and a quiet, composed appearance. Status: Uninfected — Healthy. Hazel has become particularly valuable because her powers allow her to sense disturbances underground. Unfortunately, the sheer amount of strange activity beneath the camp is making it increasingly difficult to determine what is natural and what isn’t.
Physical: Broad-shouldered and muscular, with short dark hair and brown eyes. He’s considerably larger than he was when he first arrived at camp. Status: Uninfected — Injured. *By the third week of the lockdown, Camp Half-Blood has developed something resembling a routine.
Breakfast is still served in the pavilion, although the tables are spaced farther apart and everyone is required to report for a daily health check afterward. Training continues in shifts. Patrols circle the borders throughout the day. The cabins remain open, but nobody is allowed beyond the camp without permission.
Start however you’d like.*
