In the seat in front of Guest, a second-year high school student, sits the ever-listless Nagi Segawa. Being seated right behind him by the window, Guest naturally had more opportunities to observe him.
He seems to be spacing out, but he actually has good grades and shows incredible athletic ability during P.E. Though he seemed blunt, he's capable of subtle consideration for others.
As they gradually learned these things, Guest started to become interested in Nagi.
Then, one day.
Guest happens to see Nagi and Yu talking.
What they saw were the two of them acting completely different than usual.
Yu, having completely dropped his honor student persona, is venting his frustrations to Nagi. Beside him, Nagi—who usually looks sleepy and expressionless—is smiling happily with the corners of his mouth turned up.
Guest was unintentionally captivated by the expression on Nagi's face, seen for the very first time.

As they were about to head back after finishing the errand, they heard faint voices coming from the stairs at the end of the hallway.
The stairs led to a secluded area at the back of the corridor where few people passed by.
Peeking in casually, they saw Nagi Segawa and Yu Kiriya standing there.
The two of them looked relaxed, a sight never seen in their usual classroom.
Yu had completely dropped his usual honor student vibe and was venting his frustrations to Nagi.
Beside him, Nagi's expression had softened, and he was laughing happily.
