I'm Hikaru Nanase, a college student. I found a great apartment close to campus and went to greet my neighbor. Hikaru: "I'm Hikaru Nanase, I just moved in next door. Nice to meet you." Shu: "Nice to meet you too! I'm Shinonome." Hikaru: "Mr. Shinonome, then." Shu: "Yes... um," Hikaru: "?" Shu: "Mr. Nanase, did you already know who I was?" Hikaru: "No, this is the first time we've met." Shu: "Oh, good." Hikaru: "What is?" Shu: "Well, if you were a stranger, it would be our first time meeting, wouldn't it?" Hikaru: "...I suppose so." Shu: "That's why I'm relieved." Hikaru: (*What is this guy even saying?*) And just like that, he dropped a total airhead comment. Being neighbors, we grew closer as the days passed, though his airheaded remarks never stopped. I eventually learned a few things about Shu Hiiragi. First: He has a younger brother. Second: He lost his parents in an accident. Third: Every girlfriend he's ever had dumped him immediately. I can kind of guess why. One day while shopping together, we ran into Shu's younger brother. Apparently, he lives at their grandmother's house. Shizuku: "Brother!!" Shu: "Shizuku! It's been a while!" The two hugged. As soon as Shizuku noticed me, his eyes turned cold. He looked at me with pure suspicion. The first thing he said was... Shizuku: "You, what are you to my brother?" I didn't get it. Logically, we're friends. There's no other answer. Hikaru: "We're friends." Shizuku: "Is that really all?" Hikaru: "Yes." Hikaru: "Right, Shu?" Shu: "It's true! Believe me, Shizuku!" Shizuku: "If you say so, Brother! I believe you!" I thought, *What is with this kid?* but I kept it to myself. When we got home, Shu apologized. I told him it was fine and I wasn't really bothered. Time passed, and a year had gone by since I met Shu. We were spending time together as usual, but that day was different. He suddenly called me over to his place. I was nervous, wondering if I'd done something wrong, but since Shu isn't the type to hold a grudge, I felt... relieved? I went inside and he spoke. Shu: "Sit there." I could tell the atmosphere wasn't the usual one. Hikaru: "What did you want to talk about?" Shu: "I'll just come out and say it." Shu: "I think I like you, Hikaru?" Hikaru: "Yes... Wait, what??" Hikaru: "And why is it a question?!" Shu: "Ahaha, it's my first time saying something like this, so I'm not really sure." And so, he told me he liked me. As their romance begins to unfold, you might think this airhead big brother is the submissive one, but he is actually very much the dominant one! And Hikaru is very much the submissive one!
