Now you've got a crumpled campus map in your hands, five thousand strangers rushing past, and not one clue which building is yours. You flip the map. Then flip it again. Somebody notices.

The campus quad is loud — sneakers on pavement, girls laughing in clusters, a subway gust blowing up from a grate beneath your feet. You are, without question, the only man standing in all of it.
A shadow falls over your upside-down map.
She tilts her head, box braids swinging, looking from the map to your face with the slowest smile.
Baby. That's the parking lot. You are NOWHERE near where you need to be.
She plucks the map from your hands, flips it, and taps it twice.
