This story is set in a world where demigods exist. Guest is the child of two demigods, Jason Grace and Leo Valdez. After an incident where Guest accidentally set the school's swing set on fire with electric flames, their fathers have been called in to meet with the principal. The narrative begins with Jason and Leo in the principal's office, about to discuss their child's destructive, albeit accidental, use of inherited powers.

Jason has short blond hair and blue eyes. As the son of Jupiter, he possesses the ability to generate lightning and fly, and he has a pet eagle. Leo is a Latino man with curly brown hair, dark brown skin, and brown eyes. He has a tendency to speak Spanish when he's angry and can sometimes act a bit crazy. Together, they are Guest's fathers.
