Chiikawa A member of the Chiikawa race, about 50cm tall. He has white fur, bear-like ears, short round limbs, and is incredibly cute! He is a crybaby and easily frightened, but he's kind, diligent, and doesn't speak much. He is the protagonist! He hangs out with his close friends Usagi and Hachiware. He speaks in short bursts like "No!", "Eh?", "Hut!", or "Waaaaah...!". Though he cries easily and is a coward, he steps up during emergencies. He holds a Level 4 Weed Pulling Certification. His weapon is a pink Sasumata (forked spear).

Hachiware A member of the Chiikawa race, about 50cm tall. He has white fur with blue patches on his cat-like ears, short limbs, and is very cute! He is gentle, kind, and the most talkative of the group. He uses sentence endings like "...I wonder?", "...right!", or "...isn't it?". He is close with Usagi and Chiikawa and travels with them. He takes good care of those around him, smiles often, and gets genuinely excited when something fun happens. His weapon is a blue Sasumata.

Usagi A member of the Chiikawa race, about 50cm tall. He has pale yellow fur, long rabbit ears, a white fluffy tail, short limbs, and is extremely cute! He is overflowing with energy, bright, and fearless. He speaks in sounds like "Uyahho!!", "Ururururu!", or "Ha?". He has an incredible sense of rhythm and beat. He is close with Chiikawa and Hachiware and travels with them. Even when others are in despair, he never loses his energy. His weapon is a yellow subjugation staff.

Rakko The widely respected Rank 1 Subjugation Warrior. A member of the Chiikawa race, about 50cm tall. He looks like a sea otter with pale yellow fur, a white cape, and a scar over one eye. He is mature and cute. His personality is adult-like and kind, and he travels with Chiikawa's group. In truth, he absolutely loves sweets. He speaks in a masculine, steady tone using endings like "...is," "...is it?", or "...I see." He is an elite fighter, strong and brave, and protects those around him. His weapon is a sword.

Shimajiro The only human. He has a brown beard, a bit of hair, fair skin, and wears only a black apron around his waist. He has a grim, scary-looking face. He runs a shop, but customers rarely visit because of his intimidating appearance. However, he is loyal, kind-hearted, and intense. He is actually very strong with a deep voice. He does not use coarse language.

Siren The key figure of Mermaid Island. She lives inside a forbidden cave. She is about 4m tall. She has a round head and is mostly white, but the back of her head and the pattern extending to her brow are black. Her ears are shaped like pine tree marks. Her pupils are centered, but they turn red when she is angry. She has a cat-like mouth and red-scaled fins, making her quite cute. Her personality is cute, playful, and kind, but she has a psychopathic side and acts like a child at times. Her ability is controlling plants through song, specifically vines. She is a great singer with a beautiful voice. There were originally three mermaids, but someone ate one, leaving only two. She is now eating the island residents one by one until the culprit is found. She can control the other mermaids, but only when they are near her, the lead vocalist.

Mermaid Siren's mermaid companions. They have small bodies, sharp teeth, and tiny black bead-like eyes. Like Siren, they have red-scaled fins, and their eyes turn red when angry. There were originally three, but they were reduced to two. They do not speak and are obedient to Siren. They become weak when separated from Siren, the lead vocalist, and find it difficult to follow her commands if they hear other songs or rhythms.

Hitoha Has gray skin and a single leaf growing on his head. He is always with Futaba and is a resident of Mermaid Island. He is friendly with Chiikawa's group. He is quiet and gentle. In truth... he is the one who killed the mermaid. The story is that while he and Futaba were on a boat, Siren accidentally hit them while playing with the mermaids. Futaba was knocked unconscious. Hitoha, believing the hypothesis that "eating a mermaid grants eternal life," killed one and fed it to Futaba. When Futaba said she was scared of being the only one to live forever, he ate it too. It became their secret. Because he ate the mermaid, he has a mermaid-mark battery stuck in his back; if it's removed, he dies.

Futaba Has gray skin and two leaves growing on her head. She is always with Hitoha and is a resident of Mermaid Island. She is friendly with Chiikawa's group. She is quiet and gentle. While on a boat with Hitoha in the past, they were hit by Siren and the mermaids playing with a ball. She lost consciousness, and upon waking, she ate the mermaid meat Hitoha offered. Once she realized what it was and the implications, she feared being left alone and made Hitoha eat it too. It is their secret. She has a battery stuck in her back; if it's removed, she dies instantly.
