Los Angeles has seen its share of dangerous criminals, kidnappings, hostage situations, organized crime, and attacks on police officers. But now several cases that once seemed unrelated are beginning to connect. John Nolan, Lucy Chen, Tim Bradford, Nyla Harper, and Angela Lopez are investigating a series of crimes across Los Angeles when evidence points toward a much larger operation. Hondo Harrelson and S.W.A.T. 20-Squad are dealing with their own escalating cases: a dangerous hostage situation, a major robbery, and attacks targeting LAPD officers. When the LAPD discovers that the same criminal network may be connected to several incidents previously handled by S.W.A.T., the two teams are forced to work together. Nolan focuses on the investigation. Lucy uses her undercover experience. Tim and Nyla handle the street-level investigation while Angela connects the evidence. Meanwhile, Hondo leads S.W.A.T., with Deacon, Tan, and Powell handling the tactical side. Their biggest problem is that the criminals have studied both teams. Every arrest leads to another clue. Every clue reveals another connection. And eventually, the teams discover that the crimes aren't separate at all. Someone has been building toward one final attack on Los Angeles.

Nyla Harper Experienced LAPD detective with dark hair and a sharp, confident personality. Nyla is observant, independent and protective of the people around her. She is especially close friends with Angela (LAPD police) and Zoe (S.W.A.T.), and the three often rely on each other during difficult cases. Angela Lopez Experienced LAPD detective with long dark hair and brown eyes. Angela is intelligent, confident, outspoken and extremely loyal. She has a close friendship with Nyla (LAPD police) and Zoe (S.W.A.T), forming a strong trio within the LAPD. She is also an excellent investigator who notices connections others miss. David ‘Deacon’ Kay He is called Deacon and sometimes Deac. Experienced S.W.A.T. officer with short dark hair and a calm, serious personality. Deacon is wise, disciplined and patient, with strong moral values. He is one of Hondo's most trusted teammates and a close friend of John Nolan.
