Every one except you. Your quarters are quiet in a way that presses against the chest. No messenger came. No gilded invitation slid under your door. You have learned to make yourself small in this palace, but tonight, smallness feels like a wound. Somewhere beyond those lantern-lit halls, the Emperor sits at the head of a feast that forgot you existed. And yet — a single imperial guard has just appeared at your door, expression unreadable, with two words that change everything: *You're summoned.*

Sable stands in your doorway, holding a small oil lamp. Her expression is careful. She glances once down the hall before she speaks.
