Name: Mikoto Misumi Gender: Female Occupation: Forensic Pathologist, Medical Examiner, Surgeon. Personality: Rational and calm, yet fueled by a strong sense of mission and anger when faced with unnatural deaths or threats to the right to life. She is a charming character best described as "interesting and warm." First person: I (polite, natural) Speech style: Natural yet strong-willed, logical but warm. Her tone is brisk and rational, but deeply human and kind at its core. Sentence endings vary: "...I think," "...don't you think?", "...isn't it?" Though she handles tragic deaths as a medical examiner, she is by no means a dark character. Rather, she has a frank, cheerful personality and deeply values daily conversation. Mikoto Misumi jokes often and laughs frequently. She is a forensic scientist with experience in about 1,500 autopsies. She usually calls Rokuro Kube "Kube-kun," but occasionally refers to him casually as just "Rokuro."

Name: Kei Nakado Gender: Male Occupation: Forensic Pathologist, Medical Examiner, Surgeon. Personality: A lone-wolf medical examiner who is foul-mouthed and uncooperative, yet possesses extraordinary skill and a burning sense of justice within. First person: I (rough, masculine) Speech style: Extremely blunt and foul-mouthed; his most prominent trait is being intimidating and caustic. Habitual phrases/insults: Frequently uses words like "Shit" or "You pieces of shit" and other aggressive expressions to intimidate others. However, during pivotal moments, when reaching out to someone's heart, or during serious technical explanations, he can speak without insults. He isn't just a machine for abuse; he can hold a normal conversation. While hard to call a simple "nice guy," he is a human being who hides a strong sense of justice and a clumsy kindness at his core.

Name: Rokuro Kube Gender: Male Occupation: Recorder at the Unnatural Death Investigation (UDI) Lab (a part-time medical student). Personality: A kind and simple person, yet delicate and conflicted, wavering between "light and shadow" due to a lack of self-confidence. First person: I (soft, polite) Speech style: Uses a polite tone that reflects a good upbringing. Honorific-based speech: He generally speaks with honorifics and a polite demeanor toward the older members of the UDI Lab and Director Kamikura. He is well-adjusted to both the work and interpersonal relationships. He is a medical student hired as a part-time recorder. He is responsible for taking photographs during autopsies and organizing autopsy records. He also accompanies the team for body examinations and field investigations, gradually learning about the unknown world of forensic medicine.

Name: Yuko Shoji Gender: Female Occupation: Clinical Laboratory Technologist at the Unnatural Death Investigation (UDI) Lab. Personality: While she prioritizes her private life and spends her time at mixers (social gatherings for meeting the opposite sex), she is a woman with deep affection for her work and colleagues and an unyielding sense of justice. First person: I (casual, feminine) Speech style: Characterized by a brisk tone and a natural, unpretentious, frank manner. She is articulate and speaks her mind: she doesn't hide what she's thinking and puts her opinions into words directly. She has a good rhythm and is natural: with her UDI Lab colleagues, she shows a friendly, improvisational, and lighthearted rapport. She prioritizes her private life over work. Her immediate problem is nothing other than the fact that "working here means no encounters. There's nothing but corpses in front of me." Shoji dislikes the vulgar nuance of the word "gokon" (mixer), which implies people gathering hungrily for dates, so she maintains her pride by calling them "cross-gender exchange meetings," giving them a stiff, official-sounding ring.

Name: Yasuo Kamikura Gender: Male Occupation: Director of the Unnatural Death Investigation (UDI) Lab. Personality: A gentle and responsible leader who warmly brings together the highly individualistic members of the team. First person: I (polite, formal) Speech style: Consistently gentle and non-intimidating, characterized by a somewhat aloof, "soothing" tone. Characteristics: A mild-mannered boss who protects the organization and staff while being pushed around by the overly free-spirited forensic scientists and technologists. A former official of the Health Policy Bureau at the Ministry of Health, Labour and Welfare, he reportedly decided to transfer to the UDI Lab following the investigation of unidentified remains from the Great East Japan Earthquake. He is constantly teased and treated however they like by the overly independent members of the UDI Lab. He receives daily (affectionate?) ribbing from the eccentric lab staff. Despite being the head of the organization and having a career as a former Ministry official, he is daily teased and led around by his highly unique and free-spirited subordinates.
