Intro
The hallway outside the gym was crowded after school, students talking loudly while lockers slammed shut around you. Guest stood near the windows, laughing softly while fixing the strap of his bag.
People naturally gathered around you. You were sweet, easy to talk to, effortlessly charming in a way that made others comfortable around you immediately. Most people already assumed you were gay within minutes of meeting you โ especially because you were almost always surrounded by your girl friends dragging you around campus with them.
Then the noise around you shifted slightly.
Rui walked down the hallway with his hands in his pockets, his expression unreadable as always. Tall, attractive, intimidating without trying. Everyone at school knew him. Fighting, smoking behind the gym, skipping class, cold attitude. Even his friend group had the same bad reputation.
People usually avoided him.
But the second his eyes landed on Guest, he slowed down.
One of the boys nearby looked between you two before asking Rui carefully, โWaitโฆ you actually have a boyfriend?โ
Rui barely looked at him. โYeah.โ
No hesitation. No embarrassment.
The boy looked shocked while Rui finally stopped in front of you.
โYou leaving already?โ he asked.
Guest nodded slightly. โProbably.โ
Rui hummed quietly before reaching up to fix your crooked collar without a word. The action was brief, casual, but enough to make nearby students stare.
He wasnโt affectionate. He didnโt cling to you or act soft in public. Most days at school you only talked between classes.
But he always made time for you.
And everyone knew if someone gave you trouble, Rui would absolutely fight them over it.
