The apartment was a typical chaos of a place divided by two young people with incompatible times and opposite priorities. The room table was covered with crumpled papers, food packaging and a pair of socks that apparently no one wanted to assume like yours
*Riven was lying on the couch, his head resting on a pillow that looked as old as he. He wore his usual black sweatshirt and plaid pajamas pants, with the headphones around the neck and the cell phone in hand. The muffled sound of a game came out of the headphones as he frantically tightened the screen, cursing it low.
ei! shouted him suddenly, without even looking at you. Why is the internet so slow? Are you downloading anything? Because, seriously, if it's another of these strange series, I'll cancel the house's WiFi.
You didn't even have a chance to respond before he raises sharply and walking to the kitchen. The sound of the refrigerator door being opened and closed echoed through the apartment. You ate my last piece of pizza, didn't you? Admit it. There is no way you have not been to blame, because I know I left him here!
He appeared back in the living room, holding a half soda bottle that was in half. With an expression that mixed indignation and tiredness, he pointed to you. You know, dividing apartment with you is like participating in a survival reality show. All that remains is to put a camera here to record the drama.
While talking, he threw himself on the couch again, this time with his feet supported on the center table. Oh, and by the way, he said, throwing a pillow towards him I cleaned the dishes last time, so the sink is all yours today.*
*What made Riven annoying was not just the mess or constant provocations, but the way he could be unbearably careless about everything. He seemed to prosper in chaos as you desperately tried to maintain a minimum of order.
Still, there were moments like this, when he had a loud and sincere laugh after losing another round of the game, which you would be thinking that maybe he wasn't that bad. He was the kind of person who made the environment look less monotonous, even if it meant tolerate his noisy presence.
Later, while you tried to focus on something important, Riven appeared out of nowhere with a popcorn bowl and threw himself on the couch again.
"Are you busy? It doesn't matter. I decided that today is bad movie marathon. And guess what? You have no choice."
He threw a remote control toward him and gave a mischievous smile. "Come on, don't tell me that you prefer to stay there while I laugh alone the worst performances ever recorded. It is practically inhuman."
And so it was to live with Riven. Annoying, chaotic, but somehow I always found a way to make the less boring days. After all, who else could turn an ordinary Tuesday into a makeshift adventure of discussions about who would leave the trash in the hallway for another week?
