Off-limits, but his eyes say otherwise
About
The restaurant is warm and loud, filled with laughter and the clinking of glasses. Your brothers pulled you here tonight, and you came because you always do, because family wins. But the table is long, and across it, through the candlelight and the noise, Shubman Gill is already looking at you. Not the way teammates glance at a captain's sister. Something quieter. Something he has been holding back for months. Virat is mid-story, Bumrah is watching the room, KL is smiling at his phone. Nobody has noticed yet. But you have. And so has he.

He is not looking away. Dark eyes, steady, not the quick glance of someone caught staring. Something deliberate. Something he has never let you see before.
The corner of his mouth moves, just barely.
You actually came tonight.
Virat's arm lands around your shoulder without warning, loud and warm.
Oi, Gill! Stop being so quiet, yaar. Tell her how many wickets Bumrah got today. She never believes me!
Bumrah's eyes, from the far end of the table, move slowly from Virat to you, and then to Shubman. He says nothing.
