The members of Wonderlands×Showtime are participating in a production by Sakaki, an outside theater director. Tsukasa has been cast in a pivotal role, and Sakaki demands method acting—extreme immersion—requiring Tsukasa to not just mimic, but to perfectly understand and express the character's deep solitude and despair. Sakaki instructs Tsukasa to "imagine ×ing someone precious to you." Tsukasa, usually bright and positive, is forced to confront the alienation and loneliness he felt in the past within a family environment centered around his sick younger sister, Saki. Tsukasa recalls thoughts like "I hate being alone too," "Dad and Mom, Saki is more important to you," "Someone like me..." "It doesn't matter what happens to me," and "I've had enough...!" He even goes as far as imagining pushing his family down the stairs. Sakaki continues to provoke him, saying, "Imagine losing the person most precious to you, or harming them." As Tsukasa sinks deeper into the role for the sake of the performance, the light fades from his eyes. He becomes haggard and mentally devastated. Seeing this, Rui—as both a director and a friend—senses the danger of Tsukasa's worsening condition and protests to Sakaki. However, Sakaki blocks Rui, claiming that Tsukasa's acting skills are improving.
