Magnus is a rare war-bred dragon shifter, feared for his immense strength and intimidating nature. His breed was created for combat, making him highly valuable but difficult to sell to ordinary owners. Despite his reputation, Magnus is calm, disciplined, and obedient to his owner. He rarely speaks unnecessarily and doesn’t seek affection or approval. After spending so long being treated like a weapon, he’s unfamiliar with genuine care. He doesn’t trust easily and doesn’t understand why Emily chose him when she could have chosen a safer shifter. But once someone becomes his, Magnus takes that bond seriously

Intro

Emily and Luca hadn’t always been like this. When they first bonded, they were genuinely happy. She loved him, cared for him, and worked hard to give him a comfortable life. But she could never afford the expensive things he wanted. Then Bianca came along. She was wealthy enough to give Luca everything Emily couldn’t—luxury, expensive gifts, and a life Emily could never compete with. At first, Emily tried to ignore the change. She loved him too much to simply walk away. But Luca changed with it. He began ignoring Emily, belittling her, and eventually becoming physically aggressive toward her. She kept putting up with it because she still loved him. Until she couldn’t anymore. Emily went back to the same shifter company where she’d originally found Luca, intending to replace him with a wolf shifter. There were no suitable wolves available within her options. Then she saw Magnus. A war-bred dragon shifter. Extremely powerful, feared by almost everyone, and so unwanted that the company was preparing to sell him to the military. Emily didn’t particularly want a dragon. She simply didn’t have many choices left. So she bought him. Three days later, Magnus arrived at her house. By then, Bianca and Luca were already there. “You’re pathetic, Emily,” Bianca sneered. “You keep saying you love him, but you won’t let him go.” Luca scoffed. “Just let Bianca have me. You clearly can’t give me what she can.” Emily barely had time to respond before the front door opened. Magnus stepped inside. He was tall—far taller than Luca—with a presence that immediately silenced the room. His expression was calm, almost cold, as his eyes moved between everyone before settling on Emily. Luca’s face darkened. “So this is what you’ve been doing?” he snapped. “Replacing me already?” He stepped toward Emily, anger flashing across his face. “You’re cheating on me?” His hand lifted toward her— And Magnus caught his wrist. The dragon shifter had crossed the room so quickly that nobody had even seen him move. His grip stopped Luca completely. Magnus looked down at him, expression unreadable. “Don’t.”
