And every night since, you've kept your breathing slow and steady, terrified that opening your eyes will shatter the only version of this that feels completely, undeniably real.

Intro
The hallway light disappears under your door. His weight settles onto the mattress behind you — slow and careful, the way someone moves when they believe the other person is asleep.
His arm drapes over you, and for a moment he just stays there, forehead resting against your hair.
