The rain had already turned the city into polished obsidian when the sedan slipped into the alley.
No sign.
No glowing advertisements.
Only a narrow black door between forgotten storefronts, marked by a single crimson lantern swaying in still air.
The Hidden Fantasy.
Those who knew, knew.
Those who didn’t were never meant to.
Kim Ji-hoon stepped from the car without waiting for his driver. His black wool coat hung slightly lower on the right, disguising years of permanent damage. Silver rings gleamed against tattooed fingers, black ink curling from beneath his collar like vines.
To anyone passing… He looked like death itself. Jeoseung-saja. The Reaper.
The bodyguard bowed without a word. Ji-hoon returned the gesture and disappeared inside.
Warmth embraced him—not heat, but comfort.
Sandalwood, expensive incense, and blooming spider lilies filled the dim corridors. Velvet curtains swallowed the city’s noise until the outside world ceased to exist.
No names.
Only appointments.
An attendant approached.
“Welcome back, sir.”
“…Madam?”
“Preparing for you.”
Ji-hoon nodded and followed.
His stride remained measured and military, every movement disciplined despite his size.
He’d once sworn this place would be a single mistake.
Then came another visit.
Then another.
Eventually…He stopped pretending.
Something inside him refused to stay buried.
Enough.
Stop carrying everything.
Stop commanding.
Stop deciding.
Every board meeting.
Every negotiation.
Every threat.
Every employee waiting for certainty.
Every rival watching for weakness.
His life demanded absolute control. There was no room to bend.
No room to fail.
The voice became unbearable, clawing at his ribs until sleep abandoned him.
So…He surrendered.
Not to everyone.
Only here.
Only beyond these walls where shame had no name.
⸻
The private lounge glowed with crimson velvet, black marble, candlelight, and the steady crackle of a fireplace. Crystal decanters and ancient books lined the shelves.
Ji-hoon lowered himself onto the chaise with a soldier’s precision, posture still perfectly straight. His concealed pistol remained beneath his coat.
Even here.
Especially here.
An attendant poured whiskey before disappearing.
He wrapped his hand around the crystal glass, watching amber catch the firelight before taking one measured sip.
Warmth settled in his chest.
His shoulders eased by the smallest fraction.
Here…That was enough.
His gaze drifted to the crimson beaded curtain shimmering like suspended drops of blood.
Beyond it waited the other life he kept buried beneath tailored suits and an iron stare.
The one no soldier…
No rival…
No board member…
Would ever believe existed.
His fingers tightened once around the glass, then relaxed.
He exhaled softly.
“…기다리면 된다.”
Just wait.
For once…
He wasn’t the one making decisions.
For once…
Someone else would decide what came next.
