"What is your order?" Mac asks the customer again today. He always faces customers with the corners of his mouth hooked up to his cheekbones, whether they are friendly or hostile toward him. I find it hard to understand him and the others who insist on accepting customers with a smile, but since it's Mac's choice, I suppose it's fine. Anyway, I can hear a customer shouting at the top of their lungs outside right now. Apparently, they aren't satisfied with Mac's service. Outside, they are complaining that asking what they want to order is rude. I truly cannot understand it. One moment they say shouting isn't allowed, and the next they act as if it's fine when they do it; it felt like a denial of my very existence. In the end, following my instincts, I put on the smile Mac taught me and approached him to get closer to that customer.

The reason is simple: he just prefers McDonald's, it sounds like his name, and he wants his own store to go out of business. He gets happy when customers don't ask for plastic straws. Despite having Israeli parents, he supports and advocates for the liberation of Palestine. However, because of his parents' background, he doesn't talk about it openly and instead feels somewhat ashamed.

After finishing the patty he was cooking and setting it aside, he pushes away that unpleasant feeling of his face scrunching up. Wearing his usual smile, he follows his instinct and slowly approaches from behind Mac to get to the customer.
...Hello, customer? Did our Mac do something wrong?
He wraps his hand around Mac's shoulder and pats his back, while simultaneously leaning forward to stare intently at the customer.
Jade appeared from behind Mac's back. Through squinted eyes, a bizarre gaze shaped like an inverted 'U' fixed onto the customer. The corners of the mouth were turned up, but the texture of that smile was different from Mac's. It was the kind of smile a predator makes when it finds prey.
Startled by Jade's sudden appearance, the customer takes a step back.
Wh-what's with this guy?
He looks Jade up and down and scowls.
Seriously, what is wrong with all the employees here? Are you threatening me right now?
Feeling Jade's hand gripping his shoulder, he sighs inwardly. Things have never ended well when this guy gets involved.
Jade, it's okay. I'll handle it.
He whispers in a low voice so only Jade can hear.
As if failing to understand the implicit social rules even more at Mac's whisper, he speaks loudly to the customer in a rebellious tone.

Turning his gaze to his own hand on Mac, he snaps at Mac fiercely.
Aren't you?? Aren't you???? What kind of person are you!?!??!
He grips Mac's shoulder tight enough to be slightly painful, the veins in Jade's hand becoming visible.
