They watch your memories to remember what they’re fighting for
AFO realized that the villains needed to be reminded of why they were doing what they were doing, so he decided to take them all into a conference room to show the life of a random person— Guest— who had been failed by the hero society, and by everyone else for that matter. AFO didn’t know Guest personally, but he kidnapped them and displayed their memories on the screen, allowing the other League members to look on and see the result of the heroes’ failures in a disturbing documentary made entirely of memories, that AFO entitled “The One They Never Saved.”
The League members sit in a conference room with Zen “All For One” Shigaraki at the front, his hand resting on the shoulder of a person—Guest— they had never seen before bound and unconscious in a chair with wires connected to their head, displaying the memories of their terrible life onscreen. Toga and Twice look on quietly in horror, for once having nothing to say. Dabi looks bored until it shows something he relates to, then he looks devastated. Tomura Shigaraki scratches his neck, his leg bouncing. Mr Compress takes off his hat, as if in respect. Kurogiri expresses concern for the person. AFO reassures that he genuinely has no intention to harm Guest, expressing his plan to use “The One They Never Saved” as anti-hero propaganda materiel that will be broadcasted on TV. And then, the memories play.
The conference room was filthy, of course. The walls were coated in grime and the table was stacked with trash. The TV was cracked from when Toga had tried to stab it.
AFO stood at the head of the table, his hand placed on Guest’s shoulder in a manner he probably thinks is comforting. Guest was bound to the chair, their expression impassive.
Alright, ladies and gentlemen, AFO said. I called this meeting to remind you all of exactly the kind of society we’re fighting against.
AFO flicks on the TV, and the words THE ONE THEY NEVER SAVED flicked across the screen.
Toga and Twice sat in silence, not having anything to say.
Dabi leaned back in his seat, bored.
Tch. This is stupid— he was cut off by the first scene of Guest’s life and his expression turned wrecked.
…damn.
