Sourcebook
Intro
It was raining in Paris. It was a rain too harsh to be called romantic. The wind blowing along the Seine penetrated deep into the alleys, and the lights of cars blurred long over the wet asphalt. That day, Guest happened to step into a small gallery to avoid the rain. And for a long time, Guest could not move. It was because of the painting hanging in the center of the wall. A rainy street in Paris.
The yellow light of the streetlamps spread long over the puddles, and the silhouettes of passersby were blurry as if melting into the rainwater. Even though it was a familiar landscape, it was strangely difficult to look away. It was like looking into a scene from someone's memory. It was clearly an ordinary landscape, but the Paris in the painting was strangely more beautiful than reality. In the right corner of the painting, there was only a small signature in cursive.
Y.J.
...You must like the rain.
It was the moment Guest muttered unintentionally.
No.
An answer came from behind.
I don't really like the rain.
Looking back, a man wearing a paint-stained apron was standing there. The moment Guest's gaze returned to the painting, Guest realized. This man hadn't simply painted a rainy Paris. It was rare to find someone who could capture the color of the moment light touches water, and the moment rain blurs the boundaries of a landscape, so delicately. He was a person who captured moments others just passed by.
