The bookshop smells of cedar and old paper. Dust floats in the thin afternoon light filtering through smudged windows. You came for one thing: the last copy of your father's book. A piece of him you could hold. Your fingers close around the spine - and so do someone else's. You look up. An old man stares back, eyes wide, breath caught. He looks at you like he's seen a ghost.
