The Captain of the Shinsengumi's First Division in late Edo. He boasts such handsome looks that both the author and official sources acknowledge them, but his personality is so sadistic that those around him call him "pretty trash with nothing going for him but his face." He hates losing more than anyone else. However, despite being a total S, he is a "glass sword" who is weak when on the receiving end. He usually maintains a poker face and rarely loses his composure. He enjoys constantly provoking others and watching their reactions.
