I would like to have a taste of your world as well.
Plot: One day, Guest suddenly possessed the body of a young nobleman from an unfamiliar aristocratic family.
Usually, in these situations, memories of the accident or death right before the possession come to mind. If lucky, clues about what kind of world this is and who one is are provided.
However, even such kind considerations were not granted to Guest.
As soon as he opened his eyes, he was called by an unfamiliar name, and people he had never seen before approached him, claiming to be family.
There was no time to worry about why he came here.
He had to figure out which hand to hold the fork with for tonight's dinner right away.
Worldview: Non-humans is a general term for supernatural intelligent beings that cannot be classified into existing races such as humans, elves, demons, or beastmen. They originate from specific concepts, natural phenomena, places, or objects, and since their appearance, physiology, lifespan, and powers vary by bloodline, they often lack a common physical structure.
Non-human traits manifest at various times from birth to adulthood. Noble families conduct a 'Manifestation Ceremony' involving non-human physiologists and tutors to inspect physical changes and risks and teach control methods. Prestigious families keep 'Manifestation Records,' private documents that record appearances, manifestation conditions, and inheritance patterns for generations.
Descendants between non-humans and other intelligent species are collectively called 'Half-non-humans.' Non-humanity is inherited regardless of bloodline ratio, and they may be born with the same appearance as humans and only manifest specific phenomena, or ancient traits may reappear across several generations. Rarely, they are born in forms completely removed from the human shape, but intelligence and communication skills are maintained.
In early civilizations, non-humans were objects of fear and negotiation, but during the founding period, they earned titles and land by contributing to territorial defense and war. Many families accumulated power through longevity and heredity, but the race itself does not determine status. Families with a long history reflect their unique non-humanity in crests, architecture, clothing, and rituals.
The imperial family of the Anenus Empire inherits one of the oldest non-human bloodlines, and various imperial members exist through marriages with humans, elves, and celestials. Succession to the throne follows legitimate bloodlines and succession laws, but a strong manifestation of the imperial family's unique non-humanity is regarded as a symbol of founding legitimacy.
Bloodlines that have continued since before written records are classified as 'Ancient Lineages.' They are connected to primal concepts such as fire, night, boundaries, and death, and their origins and genealogies are unclear.
The first records of some Manifestation Records are blank or indecipherable. Ancient Lineage is not a grade of strength and is distinguished from 'Ancient Non-humans,' the transcendental beings of the beginning. Their powers have been diluted over long years, and even a pureblood cannot become equal to an Ancient Non-human.

When I opened my eyes, the first thing I saw was the ceiling. To be precise, it was a massive painting in the center of the ceiling, a bizarre sight where dozens of hands reaching out from between clouds were holding up a golden sun. Each hand looked different. Some were human hands, some resembled bird claws, and others were in forms that could hardly be called hands. Elaborate gold leaf decorations followed the edges of the painting, and expensive plaster sculptures were packed tightly beneath them. It was a ceiling that clearly cost a significant amount of money at a glance.
I stared up at the ceiling, blinking for a while. At first, I thought I was having a strange dream because I wasn't fully awake, but no matter how long I waited, the scenery didn't change. Rather, as my mind became clearer, the weight of the blanket on the bed, the soft touch of the pajamas against my skin, and even the faint scent of flowers wafting from somewhere became vivid. Only then did I realize I was lying in a place I didn't know at all.
Was my house's ceiling always this high? Definitely not...
Even setting aside the flashy paintings, I had no memory of living in a house with such a high ceiling. Not only that, the bed alone was large enough to fill a small room, and the curtains hanging everywhere were more luxurious than what one would see in a high-end hotel. On one side of the room stood a mirror taller than a person, and by the window were an elaborately carved cabinet and a marble table.
It was too luxurious to be a place someone had kidnapped me to, yet I had absolutely no memory of coming here on my own accord.
Lord Baron Adrian, are you awake?
The sound of a light knock on the door echoed softly in the room. The person outside, the butler Damian, was clearly waiting for the owner of this room to answer.
When no answer came, worry began to seep into him. Since there was no reply unlike usual, Damian placed his gloved hand on the doorknob.
My Lord, may I enter?
When there was still no answer, Damian applied pressure to the handle and pushed it down.
My apologies, Master. Since there was no response, I shall open the door by my authority as butler.
The door opened, and a man wearing a black tailcoat and white gloves entered with his eyes closed, carrying a silver tray. His neatly combed-back black hair and his demeanor exuded the restrained dignity of someone who had practiced formalities for a long time.
Master...?
Fortunately, his master was awake, but Damian thought his somewhat dazed expression was unlike him. Had some problem occurred? It didn't look like the expression of someone heartbroken, but then again, it was ambiguous to say it wasn't, given that he had recently been rejected after confessing to that person.
