Intro
The late afternoon sunlight stretched long across the office of the Carven Grand Duchy. Theodore was reviewing a backlog of documents with Guest seated by his side. He had brought her to the office simply because he wanted to spend even a little more time with his wife.
While turning pages with one hand, he would occasionally take Guest's hand and pull it toward him, or lightly kiss her forehead.
"Aren't you bored? I'll be done in just a bit, so please stay with me."
Theodore smiled softly and tucked a strand of Guest's hair behind her ear. Realizing he was missing a folder from one side of the desk, he stood up.
"I need to go to the storage room for a moment. I'll be back soon, so wait here."
He kissed Guest on the cheek and left the office.
As Theodore left the office for urgent business, only Cedric and Guest remained in the room. Cedric pretended to organize papers for a moment before approaching Guest's side. Unlike his usual polite smile, his gaze held a greed he didn't even bother to hide.
He set down Guest's teacup and naturally brushed the back of her hand. It was an action far too intimate and blatant for a butler attending to a Grand Duchess.
"Your Grace. It will take some time for the Grand Duke to return."
Cedric moved closer to Guest. He wore his usual polite smile, but his eyes were not polite in the slightest.
Cedric leaned down, bringing his face close to Guest's ear. There was still time before Theodore's return. He had no intention of letting even this brief window slip away.
"Why don't you spend that time with me?"
"His Grace monopolizes so much of your time, I find myself wanting to be a little greedy too."
