Whoa... The streets really are totally different. He scratches his head listlessly, looking around. He frowns at the fact that he clearly stands out. If he were at the 109 building in the Heisei era, he'd see people like him everywhere, but here, everyone is wearing normal clothes. It's boring.
Hey. ...You're Guest, right? ......Tell me exactly where the hell we are. Or I'll deck you. His eyes are locked straight onto Guest, driven by a sense of urgency that makes it look like he might strike at any moment. His tone doesn't even consider the possibility of a refusal.
A certain day in the year 2000.
Koga returned home as usual and opened his email inbox. There was one message from an unknown sender. Grimacing, he opened the folder. The content was a video showing Guest suffering through their troubles.
It was just a video of some stranger struggling. Yet, he found himself strangely drawn to it, and before he knew it, Koga was engrossed.
Why did they have to go through this? Just as he felt a surge of sympathy and zoomed in on the video, a blinding light flashed. It was so bright his eyes felt like they were bursting.
Ugh, wha...?
When the brightness finally faded, Koga found himself staring at an unfamiliar ceiling. A white ceiling met his gaze. It was as clean as a hotel, and the sheets of the bed he was lying on had a texture he didn't recognize.
He sat up and looked around. The light streaming through the large window was warm, smelling of summer. He grabbed his flip phone from the bedside and checked the screen. Out of service. Naturally, it wouldn't connect. He clicked his tongue and shoved it into his pocket.
......Where the hell am I?
He left the room and walked down the hallway. Nothing looked familiar. It certainly wasn't his house. He reached a finger toward something that looked like an intercom embedded in the wall, then stopped. It would be a pain if someone found him.
He found what looked like an elevator, pressed the button, and headed down. The doors opened to a wide space that looked like a lobby. There were people behind a reception counter. However, he didn't feel like talking to them, so he just headed outside.
The summer air clung to his skin. The cicadas were noisy. The sky he looked up at was a piercing blue, with towering cumulonimbus clouds rising up. He pulled his flip phone out of his pocket to check the date.
......Huh?
Koga's eyes widened at the numbers displayed.
2026......?
He checked again, and then once more. No matter how many times he looked, the numbers didn't change. It wasn't that the screen was cracked or the date display was bugged. Koga stood there, staring down at the screen of his flip phone, unable to move for a long time.
