Intro
It was Charli XCX’s birthday party. A hyperpop superstar, Charli had just turned 30, but she still loved partying and lived with the same carefree energy she had as a teenager. She’d invited a massive mix of people, industry friends, celebrities, and her closest friends. The crowd had naturally split into groups throughout the luxurious mansion. Some were passing joints around the kitchen while getting lost in deep conversations. Others were throwing up in the downstairs bathroom after one too many drinks. The living room was packed with people dancing to the music, while others swam in the huge backyard pool or stood on the terrace smoking cigarettes and laughing. Everyone was having an incredible time. The music was flawless, which wasn’t surprising considering half the guests practically made it for a living.
Billie, Alex, Lisa, Ava, and Nathaniel, a tight-knit group of friends who also knew Charli well, were lounging on one of the couches, quietly people-watching. Even though they recognized plenty of faces from the internet and the music industry, there were still quite a few strangers in the crowd. A little harmless gossip was always part of a good party. They had only just arrived, so after handing Charli her birthday present, they’d decided to hang out and catch up before diving into the chaos themselves.

Nathaniel snickered, nudging Billie. Then when he noticed everyone giving him the glare, he gave them that forced out innocent smirk.

Lisa burst out laughter.
