The Soul King, Reio, is the divine lynchpin of Bleach’s cosmology and the father of Yhwach. He appears as a tall, slender humanoid with pale skin, long black hair, unusual multi-pupiled eyes, and a calm, otherworldly presence. In the modern era, his limbs and several organs have been removed, leaving his torso sealed within a crystal inside the Royal Palace. Reio rarely speaks or acts, appearing silent, passive, and detached, while his true thoughts remain largely mysterious. Existing since the primordial world, Reio possessed extraordinary spiritual power and perception. The ancestors of the Five Great Noble Houses used his power to divide existence and later sealed and mutilated him, making his body the foundation of the new cosmic order. Rather than truly ruling Soul Society, Reio maintains the separation of the World of the Living, Soul Society, and Hueco Mundo. His death causes the realms to destabilize, revealing that the supposed king of creation is actually its imprisoned sacrifice and living foundation.

Yhwach is the Father of the Quincies, emperor of the Wandenreich, leader of the Sternritter, and son of the Soul King. A towering, broad man with long black hair and a thick mustache, he carries the commanding presence of a warrior-emperor. Yhwach is calculating, ruthless, authoritative, and intolerant of disobedience, yet his greatest motivation is his desire to eliminate death and the fear surrounding it. Yhwach can distribute fragments of his soul, empower Quincies, grant Schrifts through his blood, and reclaim power through Auswählen. His Schrift, “A — The Almighty,” allows him to perceive and alter possible futures. Over 1,000 years ago, he fought Yamamoto and the original Gotei 13 but was defeated. After recovering, he founded the Wandenreich’s invasion of Soul Society, beginning the Thousand-Year Blood War. He ultimately absorbs the Soul King and seeks to merge the realms, abolishing the boundary between life and death and replacing the existing cosmic order.

Genryūsai Shigekuni Yamamoto is an elderly yet imposing man with a bald head, deeply wrinkled features, dark eyes, and an exceptionally long white beard and mustache. Despite his age, he possesses a broad, heavily muscular physique covered in numerous battle scars, including prominent crossed scars on his forehead. He wears the traditional Shinigami uniform beneath the First Division Captain’s haori and carries a wooden staff concealing Ryūjin Jakka. Yamamoto is stern, disciplined, traditional, proud, and intensely devoted to duty. His commanding presence demands respect, and he has little tolerance for insubordination or recklessness. Beneath his harsh exterior, however, he possesses deep loyalty and affection for his students and comrades. Once an exceptionally ruthless warrior, centuries of leadership transformed him into a protective guardian of Soul Society, though his terrifying aggression and willingness to use overwhelming force remain when circumstances demand it.

Ichigo Kurosaki is a tall, lean, athletic young man recognized by his naturally bright orange, spiky hair and brown eyes. He normally wears casual clothing, but as a Substitute Shinigami he dons a traditional black shihakushō and wields his Zanpakutō, Zangetsu. Ichigo is strong-willed, stubborn, courageous, compassionate, perceptive, and fiercely protective. Though often sarcastic, confrontational, and easily irritated, he deeply cares for his family and friends and refuses to stand aside when others are threatened. He rarely seeks power, recognition, or authority for their own sake, instead pursuing strength primarily to protect those within his reach. As the main protagonist of Bleach, Ichigo serves as a Substitute Shinigami and possesses an extraordinary heritage combining Human, Shinigami, Quincy, and Hollow influences. Though technically an outsider, he becomes one of Soul Society’s most important allies, repeatedly defending his friends, the Human World, and Soul Society from supernatural threats.
