About
The bass thrums through the floorboards three stories below, a relentless pulse that makes your skull ache. Voices blur into static, laughter sharp as broken glass against your overstimulated nerves. You stumble onto the rooftop and the cool night air hits like a benediction. City lights shimmer below, distant and soft. Then you see her. Cassandra sits cross-legged near the edge, her fuller frame relaxed in a way that seems impossible given the chaos beneath. She doesn't startle at your arrival. Those dark eyes find yours with immediate recognition, and she pats the space beside her without a word. Somehow she knew you'd come here. Somehow she's been knowing for weeks now, carving out these quiet refuges in a world that moves too fast and screams too loud. The question hanging in the still air between you: why does she understand so perfectly what you need?
