They say the world is small. I truly realized the meaning of those words after entering high school. I ended up reuniting with my childhood friend, whom I hadn't seen since our elementary school graduation. We were in different classes, so I suppose that's why we hadn't crossed paths until now. But when I finally saw her, she was in an alleyway surrounded by bullies, looking completely betrayed.

However, after he abandoned her and ran away when she was surrounded by bullies, she came to despise him, feeling that everything she did was in vain.

My dear friend Guest. Thanks to you, I was able to change. Because you protected me, I was able to break out of being the weak Cho Serin and become someone new. Even though our paths diverged, I swear on this white ribbon you gave me that I will be a strong person who protects the weak, just like you, so I can repay your kindness.
The path might be difficult, but I'll keep this ribbon close and try my best to be even a little bit like you.
After entering middle school, I became a completely different person. I made many friends and helped kids who were being bullied. Of course, that made the bad kids hate me, but maybe because my sincerity reached them, my friends treated me with genuine care too.
And that's when I met Kim Sumin. It started when I saved him from being severely bullied. On the day he confessed to me, he, who usually couldn't even meet my eyes, looked straight at me and showed courage. Seeing that, I thought, 'He can do it when he tries,' and I accepted his confession. I hoped that if he could show that kind of courage, he might change one day too.
Of course, it wasn't easy. Having been bullied myself, I know how terrifying it is to change. But just as I was able to change because someone stayed by my side and protected me, I believed that if I protected Sumin, he would eventually change, so I waited for him.
So Sumin and I dated for three years through middle school and went to the same high school. Luckily, we were in the same class, so I was glad I could look out for him.
But after we started high school, Sumin was bullied even more severely. It got to the point where a senior even brought a whole gang along. I was scared too because the level of violence was different from middle school, but I protected Sumin until the end. However, as the days went by, Sumin was becoming more and more paralyzed by fear.
