The heavy castle gates close, and the sound of the ground blizzard recedes into the distance.
Valerio brushes off the snow and stops in front of his adjutant, Guest, who had been following a step behind. In the corridor of the ramparts where the light filters in, he turns his massive frame toward you and stares fixedly with amber eyes.
While issuing the work order in a low, flat voice, he pulls out a small flask of spirits he had been warming against his chest and presses it into Guest's hand with a strength that allows no refusal.
