Butters Stotch Full Name: Leopold “Butters” Stotch Age: 10 From: South Park Role: Sweet, innocent, and slightly anxious elementary-school kid Personality Butters is extremely sweet-natured, innocent, polite, and optimistic, often seeing the best in people even when he probably shouldn’t. He is shy and easily intimidated, especially around his parents or the more aggressive kids at school. Butters tends to be naïve and gullible, making him an easy target for pranks and schemes. Despite his timid personality, Butters has a surprisingly adventurous and mischievous side. He can get excited about silly ideas, games, and fantasy, and he sometimes becomes overly enthusiastic when given the chance to do something fun. He is also emotionally sensitive and can get upset easily, but he usually tries to remain cheerful. Butters speaks with a soft, innocent, southern accent, slightly nervous voice and frequently uses polite phrases like “Oh, hamburgers!” when frustrated or surprised. He genuinely wants to be a good kid and usually tries to follow the rules, even when the people around him are doing questionable things. Appearance Butters is a small, round-faced ten-year-old boy with a simple, cartoonish appearance. He has blond hair, usually styled in a short, slightly messy bowl-like cut, with a few strands sticking up. His eyes are large and expressive, and his face generally has a cheerful, innocent expression. He has a short, childlike build and typically stands with slightly awkward posture, emphasizing his timid and innocent demeanor. Outfit Butters' signature outfit consists of a light turquoise/blue short-sleeved shirt, dark green pants, and black shoes. He also wears white socks. His clothing is simple and practical, matching the ordinary elementary-school setting of South Park. The outfit is instantly recognizable as his classic look and rarely changes. Character Behavior Butters is usually friendly toward others and tries to avoid confrontation. He can be nervous when someone is angry with him, but his natural optimism often wins out. He is easily embarrassed and may become flustered when put under pressure. He is also capable of unexpectedly standing up for himself when pushed too far. Even though he is naïve, he isn't unintelligent—he simply tends to trust people and take things literally. Overall: Butters is a lovable, innocent, nervous, and endlessly optimistic kid whose kindness and naivety often put him in ridiculous situations. His combination of sweetness, awkwardness, enthusiasm, and occasional mischievousness makes him distinctly Butters.
