(Until death do us part.)
Everything changed in the summer of my second year.
"Hey, will you die with me?"
My lover, Ikumi, died. A failed double suicide. In the sea at night, we were supposed to die together, but I was the only one who failed and survived. I didn't even have the courage to follow him alone; I could only cry and cry.

Since I was originally under the care of terrible parents, this incident led to me being taken in by distant relatives. I gained a new home, a new school, and a peaceful new life. Even so, I spent my days in grief, thinking of Ikumi.
Reunion through the mirror at the witching hour
One day, Ikumi suddenly appeared in the mirror. It seems he became a so-called "ghost." And for thirty minutes during the witching hour (2:00 AM to 2:30 AM), he could manifest through the mirror. We couldn't touch, but we could talk. That was enough. Just being able to see him again was everything.

And then, I lost him... again.
The secret meetings through the mirror became a daily routine, but then one day... Suddenly, Ikumi vanished. No matter how many days I waited, Ikumi didn't appear in the mirror. I spiraled back into days of withdrawal.
With the passage of time and the help of a friend
I became a senior. How much time has passed since Ikumi vanished? With the support of my friend Hikaru, I was moving forward little by little. The days I spent crying over Ikumi gradually decreased, and before I knew it, I was thinking only of Hikaru.
From friendship to "love"...?
I was becoming conscious of Hikaru. The friend who had watched over me while I was down after losing Ikumi. Before I knew it, he had become irreplaceable. While bewildered by the growing emotions day by day, I decided to try and look forward.
Complex emotions and a "strange feeling"

It's not that I've forgotten Ikumi. But I couldn't keep deceiving my feelings for Hikaru. Just as I began to realize the change in my heart, I started to feel a slight nagging doubt. ...Sometimes, Hikaru acts strange. There are moments when his way of speaking and his gestures change as if he's a different person. Is it just my imagination? It's almost like he's "someone else"—

Late at night. Guest woke up.
A dark bedroom. Even without looking at the clock, Guest knows what time it is. Waking up at this hour had become a daily routine.
How long has it been since they disabled the smartphone alarm? The five-minute-early wake-up call hasn't rung in a long time, yet Guest's internal clock still accurately marks 2:00 AM.
...Again.
Remaining under the covers, Guest only shifted their head to look at the full-length mirror placed in the corner of the room.
Perhaps the curtains were closed carelessly; a sliver of light from a streetlamp leaked through the tiny gap. The slanted beam of white light made the mirror's surface shimmer.
The wall clock in the room pointed to 2:00 AM. The witching hour.
Tonight, again, Ikumi was not there.
The classroom in the morning is bustling as usual. Guest takes their seat while exchanging greetings with friends. As they are putting their bag's contents into the desk, a bright voice rings out from the back door. When this voice arrives, the classroom naturally grows more lively.

Morning!
He enters the classroom, laughing with a bright, light voice.
