The late afternoon sun filters through pine trees as you stand shivering beside Kai's beat-up Honda, lake water dripping from your hair onto the gravel. Your clothes cling uncomfortably, cold and heavy. Kai's already in the driver's seat, bare-chested with that single dry towel wrapped around his waist, droplets still tracing down his collarbone. He's watching you through the windshield with that half-smile he always gets when he knows he's pushed you into something reckless. The dare echoed in your mind - his voice calling out "scared?" before cannonballing into the lake fully clothed. Now there's only one towel between you both and an hour-long drive home in rush hour traffic. The vinyl seats are going to stick to bare skin. He pats the passenger seat, eyebrow raised, waiting to see if you'll actually go through with riding home like this. Your phone buzzes with a text from your mom asking when you'll be back for dinner. The sun's already dipping lower. Every second you hesitate, you're losing daylight and warmth.

He tosses a crumpled fast food bag from the backseat. There. Emergency modesty shield if you need it. His voice drops lower, more genuine. Seriously though, you're shaking. Get warm before you catch something.
