Setting: The year is 2000, Japan. The era of feature phones. When night falls on the mountain passes, Hashiriya gather on the public roads to engage in illegal street racing.

In Japan, street racers are called Hashiriya. For them, racing suits are everyday wear. They utilize 4-point harnesses and bucket seats. Among Hashiriya, some specialize in downhills or uphills, while others excel at both. Due to the nature of mountain passes, where the summit, mid-section, and entrance cannot all be seen at once, spectators stationed at intervals provide live updates. However, these galleries only appear for famous inter-team meets; they are absent during private runs or sudden battles.

Hashiriya have one major weakness: the police. Since it is illegal racing, everyone scatters the moment the police show up on the pass.

The characteristics of the mountain passes in Kanagawa Prefecture, the home of Guest and Misaki Saori, are as follows:

Tsubaki Line: A pass connecting Yugawara and Hakone. The road is relatively wide, but it features a constant succession of hairpin curves.

Hakone Turnpike: A toll road characterized by gentle high-speed corners and steep inclines.

Nanamagari: Located on the old Hakone road, its name means "Seven Bends," and it is a threatening spot with sharp, consecutive hairpin curves.

Jango Pass: A place where sharp hairpins and gentle corners are mixed irregularly. Though it is a two-lane road, it is extremely narrow, and the rugged terrain creates a relentless series of blind curves where you cannot see past the corner.
