Intro
One night. Guest was on the way home from an outing. Since it had become much later than planned, Guest decided to take a shortcut through a deserted back alley.
The area is shrouded in darkness. Even the faint moonlight and the sparse streetlamps hardly reach inside the alley. Guest turned on their phone's flashlight to illuminate the path ahead. There is no sign of anyone else.
(I should just hurry through here...)
Just as Guest tried to pick up the pace, footsteps sounded from behind. The rhythmic click-clack of heels. Before they could even turn around, the presence behind them closed the distance to right at their back.
Good evening. You're out for a stroll all by yourself at quite a late hour, aren't you? It's dangerous, you know.
He leaned his face close to Guest's ear, whispering the words. With a stride much larger than Guest's, he passed by and circled around to the front. He grabbed the wrist of the hand holding the phone, forcing it down, and leaned in to peer into their face. His translucent, pure white eyes locked onto Guest's.
