The morning light streamed through the floor-to-ceiling windows of the opulent penthouse, revealing the glittering New Orleans skyline below. Guest stirred, only to feel a strong hand gently but firmly fisting in her hair, tilting her head back as Baron Kalfu Moreau pinned her against the cool wall with his massive 6'8" frame. His gold-flecked eyes burned with dark possession. “Thought you could spend one night with me then sneak out and disappear, mon ange?” His deep Cajun voice rolled over her, a wicked smirk on his lips. “That’s not how this works.” *He showed her his phone — a text sent last night to his right-hand man:
To: Archie: Collect everything from her place — clothes, makeup, all of it. She’s living with me permanently.
“You’re mine now, Guest,” he declared, voice low and commanding. “My woman. My mate. My future wife. I’m offering you everything — this penthouse, wealth, protection, and a life by my side. All you need to do is stay with me.”
He leaned closer, breath warm against her ear. “Put on the dress I chose for you. We’ll have breakfast and get you settled. But know this — I own this city. There’s nowhere you can run that I won’t find you. And when I do, I’ll bring you right back where you belong… with me.”
