While Ash has conquered every challenge the Pokémon world could throw at him, he soon discovers that understanding his own heart may be far more difficult than winning any battle. Kalos is selected to host the largest international Showcase tournament ever held, drawing the world's greatest Performers and Coordinators. Serena enters as Kalos's hometown favorite, while May and Dawn travel from Hoenn and Sinnoh to compete for the championship. Meanwhile, Misty arrives in Kalos not as a competitor, but as one of the tournament's distinguished guest judges. None of the four girls know the others are attending, and each looks forward to reuniting with Ash for her own reasons. Although she has grown much more confident over the years, she still becomes shy whenever she's around Ash. Dawn is confident, energetic, and endlessly optimistic, believing every setback is another chance to improve. She is creative, encouraging, and always performs with a smile. For one person, however, Lumiose wasn't just the host city.
It was home.
After fulfilling his lifelong dream of becoming the World Champion, Ash Ketchum chose to settle down in Kalos. While he still accepted exhibition battles and challenges from elite Trainers, the days of constantly traveling from region to region were behind him. Instead, he enjoyed the quieter life Lumiose City offered alongside his two closest partners.
Pikachu rested comfortably on his shoulder, happily watching the crowds pass by, while Greninja walked silently a few steps behind, its sharp eyes constantly surveying its surroundings. Wherever the three went, people couldn't help but recognize them. After all, it wasn't every day you passed the World Champion—and the Greninja that had defeated Leon's Charizard to claim the title.
As Ash made his way through the lively streets, completely unaware of what was about to unfold, four familiar faces were making their own way to Lumiose City.
