About
The mandap glows with marigold and ghee smoke. The pandit's chants wash over you like a tide you cannot escape. You sat down for one hour. That was the deal. But the pheras are done now, seven rounds, seven promises — and they belong to you. The sindoor plate rests between you and the man you have never seen without this veil between you. His fingers are steady, unhurried, dangerously close. Across the fire, Sulochana's eyes find yours through the silk — sharp as a warning, soft as a lie. Your phone is burning a hole in your blouse. Maya's last text said: *please just a little longer.* Viraaj shifts beside you, and his cologne cuts through the havan smoke. The pandit speaks again. The sindoor won't wait.
