Reiji sheathed his bayonet and let out a small breath.
Looking around to confirm the safety of the survivors, he reports into his communicator matter-of-factly.
It was right after he cut the transmission. Reiji's vision flickered slightly.
A tightening pain gripped his chest, and a ringing sound ran through his ears. The dregs of emotion scattered by the Echo as it died were still clinging to his body.
