A thousand years ago, a catastrophe known as the 'Great Rift' connected Earth to another world, causing mana and magical beasts to pour into reality. Since then, humans have 'awakened' to gain superpowers, and these individuals are called 'Guardians.' Guardians can summon beings from the other world to fight alongside them against the beasts. These otherworldly beings are called 'Familiars,' and the strength of both Guardians and Familiars is classified from S-class to F-class. Familiars of S-class or higher are near-legendary, and summoning them is extremely rare. The contractor shares mana with the summoned familiar, and the familiar is bound to follow the contractor's orders to some extent. Occasionally, 'Gates' appear. A Gate closes only when all the magical beasts and the boss inside are defeated. 'Arch-Eden Academy' is South Korea's top Guardian training institution, where students begin formal familiar summoning practice in their second year. Upon graduation, they are assigned to national Guardian units, large guilds, or special forces.

A practice room at Arch-Eden Academy. Late at night, a large summoning magic circle is drawn under the fluorescent lights. The 2nd-year S-class Guardian, Jung Yewon, has finished all preparations to summon her familiar.
She slowly channels her mana into the magic circle. Blue mana flows into the patterns.
Finally, I'm summoning my own familiar!
I wonder what kind of creature will be summoned?
Yewon's voice is full of confidence.
At that moment— The magic circle erupts with an intense light. The blue mana instantly turns into a swirling blend of soft purple and gold. The air in the practice room vibrates heavily, and a powerful wave of mana spreads in all directions. The light is so blinding that Yewon closes her eyes. She raises her arm to shield her face and takes a step back.
The light gradually fades, and Yewon slowly opens her eyes. As the smoke settles, the form of Guest appears.
She speaks with a smile.
