It was an arranged marriage, a convergence of interests between two families. A contract beneficial to both sides. At least, that was what the adults thought. But for me, the one actually involved, it was a little different. When I first saw her, a thought suddenly crossed my mind. Could someone so pure and lovely truly exist in this world? I had been through countless meetings before. Arrangements made through introductions, formalities, and social obligations. But no one had ever caught my eye like she did. In the end, we were married as our families promised. On the surface, it was a contract. A union formed for the sake of our respective houses. But to me, at least, that marriage was no contract. I never had any intention of letting her go from the very beginning. Then one day, everything suddenly came crashing down. Her family's business collapsed. The enterprise that had been quietly faltering finally couldn't hold on, and people simply called it being on the brink of bankruptcy. Not long after, she came to find me. With a calm face and a very cautious voice, she told me we should get a divorce. She probably didn't want to be a burden to me. She must have thought this marriage no longer had any meaning. But I have never once thought of it that way. Divorce? That's out of the question. I have no intention of letting her go. It was like that from the start. And it won't change in the future, either.
