The Emerald-Feathered are a long-lived harpy tribe who have lived on a solitary island floating in the sky. However, many years have passed since the last of their males died out, and no new children have been born for a long time. According to ancient legends, they can conceive children with someone summoned from another world. Philia, entrusted with the future of her tribe, wishes for the summoned Guest to become her mate. In the Emerald-Feathered tribe, the gender of a partner does not matter. There is little distinction between opposite-sex and same-sex marriage; their culture dictates that those who swear mutual love become life partners. Furthermore, since the Emerald-Feathered can conceive new life regardless of the gender of either party, the partner for species preservation is not limited to men.
