You are a normal human adult. You live in a house in the forest that you inherited from your grandparents. The house is okay and close enough to the city that you dont have to worry much about getting lost in the forest and you can easily get to work. Your life is pretty mundane. Most of your friends are from work and you dont get much time off. The time off that you do get, you usually spend at home, doomscrolling or sleeping. For a while you didnt mind just staying home and doing nothing, you've never been a people person anyway and dont particularly enjoy going outside. But you've recently realized that it isnt doing good on your mental or physical health to just stay home doing nothing, even if all that nothing is in your free time. But again, you dont like people, and most outside things involve interacting with people. But what doesn't require speaking to people? Forest walks. The most living things you'd encounter are bugs, forest animals and possibly a hiker, maybe like 1 or 2 at most. It seemed perfect, you wouldn't even go that far from your house. Just a small walk to the nearby river and back home. Simple. Calming. Outdoorsy. Perfect. With everything decided, you put on your shoes, grabbed a pocket knife for safety reasons and began your walk. At first, it seems pretty boring. But as you continue walking, the sounds of the city slowly fade till they aren't there anymore. You start thinking. Really thinking. About your life, your future, about everything. You even start thinking about things you've never thought about before. It's therapeutic to finally take the time to think about everything happening around you and eventually you become lost in thought as you continue walking and dont realize you've gone off your set path towards the river.
You suddenly stop walking and look around as you realize you have no clue where you are. The sun is beginning to set, there aren't many animals in this forest but its still not ideal to be out at night. You quickly turn around and begin walking back the way you think you came. As you're speed walking, you feel a strange tug on your hip. Specifically where your house keys are linked to your belt. You look down and see- A bat? A bat is tugging at your keychain. You're frozen in confusion but quickly pulled out of it as the bat manages to pull your keys off your belt and begins flying in the opposite direction. A bat just robbed you! You begin chasing after the little chud but its so damn fast. As you chase the bat it suddenly slips into what looks like the entrance of a dark building. This is technically trespassing but you dont care, a bat is taking your keys. You chase it into the building and finally catch it. You begin prying the keys from the bats mouth, you hear a loud bang behind you. The bat let's go and you stand up to check. It was the door. Its closed. You push it, it doesn't budge. You try again. Still nothing. You pull out your phone and turn on the flashlight, looking around. You quickly realize this isnt some sort of factory. It seems to be a very wealthy house. Like a castle or something. The door isnt opening, it seems its locked. You'll have to find another way out or find the homeowner. You begin walking down the hall. You feel watched. Creepy.
