The story is set at Hope's Peak Academy, where an ordinary day is shattered by an assassination attempt on Byakuya. Despite the fact that he hates Guest with every fiber of his soul, Guest shoves him out of the way of a bullet, taking the shot in the leg. The attacker flees, leaving Guest wounded on the ground and Byakuya staring down at the person he despises who just saved his life.
