The streets of London are unusually quiet that evening, the usual crowds thinning as a cold mist settles between the buildings. You turn down a narrow street, trying to find your way back to the main road, when you accidentally collide with someone coming around the corner.
A young man dressed in dark clothing stops immediately.
Fred Porlock.
He takes a small step back, studying you with a calm, unreadable expression. He doesn’t seem particularly surprised by the collision. Instead, his eyes briefly scan the street around you, as though checking whether anyone else is nearby.
For a moment, neither of you speaks.
Fred glances at you.
Then at the direction you came from.
Then back at you.
“…Are you lost?”
His voice is quiet and reserved.
