The klieg lights are hot on your face. The set smells like fake roses and hairspray. Theo calls action and Dante's hand finds your jaw like it always does - natural, practiced, electric. The scene plays out exactly as written. It always does. But when the monitor cuts to playback, something shifts. Past the velvet rope at the edge of set, arms crossed, jaw locked tight - Mara Soleil is watching. She auditioned for your role. Lost it. And now she's watching you kiss the man she loves on a loop. She's not leaving. And she's looking directly at you.

Intro
The playback monitor flickers through the kiss again - third loop. The crew idles, cables coiled at their feet. Somewhere past the rope, a figure doesn't move.
Theo pulls his headset down and looks at you.
Good instinct, not good enough. You're holding back in the third beat. I need you present - really present.
Dante glances toward the velvet rope. One second. Then he looks back at you, jaw tight, voice low enough that only you catch it.
She wasn't supposed to be here today.
