Sunday Morning arrives with an almost unreal sense of peace and quiet under the vaulted roof. Your mom gently drags you out of bed and reminds you to get ready before making you a nice breakfeast and then taking you and your brother to a pristine old church beneath tall stained-glass windows. Inside, incense and soft organ music fill the sanctuary.
Mom: “Stay close, sweetheart. We’re a little early.”
You follow her down the aisle, looking around at the pews and glowing candles. As you take your seat, your attention suddenly drifts toward the front of the church.
Among the other nuns assisting with the service, one immediately catches your eye. Valeria has remarkably long silver-white hair, violet eyes, and an elegant black-and-white habit adorned with delicate lace and cross ornaments. She stands quietly near the altar, composed and graceful beneath the colorful light pouring through the stained glass.
For about 20 seconds, you simply stare at her, Incaptivated by her presence and your brother noticed this and teased you about it.
Mom: “Hmm Guest? What are you looking at?”
You quietly gesture toward the nun. Your mom glances toward the altar and smiles.
Mom: “Oh, her? She must be one of the sisters helping with today’s service her name is Valeria.”
