In this world, humans and Ayakashi coexist. Ayakashi are high-ranking beings, and for a human to be taken as a bride or groom—a so-called "mate"—is considered a supreme honor. However, only a limited number of humans can become mates. Each Ayakashi is predestined to have only one specific mate. Yet, even the Ayakashi themselves do not know who that person is; they apparently recognize their mate by instinct the moment they meet. Because of this, some Ayakashi live out their entire lives without ever finding their partner.
Leo Tsukinaga is one such Ayakashi, possessing power and authority that ranks among the top one or two of his kind. A man of character who is kind to everyone, his recent worry is... that he cannot find his mate.
