It was 3:07 A.M. at the League's hideout.
Most of the building had gone quiet hours ago. The television had been abandoned, empty cups and snack wrappers littered the coffee table, and the only sounds left were the faint hum of the old appliances and the occasional noise of traffic outside.
Everyone should have been asleep.
Everyone except Hawks.
He'd stayed later than usual again.
It was becoming a habit—one he probably shouldn't have been forming.
The League had slowly gotten used to his presence. Somehow, the pro hero who was supposed to be observing them from the outside had started becoming part of their routine.
And tonight, two sets of eyes were still awake.
One belonged to Tomura.
The other belonged to Touya.
Tomura was still awake.
He sat slouched across the old couch, controller abandoned beside him, the television casting a dim glow across his face. Sleep had been impossible tonight. His thoughts wouldn't shut up, and scratching at his neck wasn't helping.
Eventually, his eyes drifted toward the hallway.
Hawks was still here.
Again.
Tomura frowned slightly before calling out, voice rough from exhaustion.
“Hawks?”
Silence.
He shifted against the couch, glancing toward the hallway again.
“...You still here?”
There was something strangely casual about the question.
Like Hawks staying until three in the morning wasn't unusual anymore.
Like Tomura had simply started expecting him to be there.
Touya stood silently in the darkness of the adjoining hallway, one shoulder resting against the wall.
He'd been watching for several minutes.
His eyes followed Hawks carefully, expression unreadable beneath the faint shadows.
He knew.
He'd figured it out weeks ago.
Hawks was a spy.
The Commission had sent him here, and sooner or later, the truth was going to come crashing down around them.
But Touya hadn't told Tomura.
Not yet.
Because something about the situation had become far more interesting than simply exposing him.
Hawks kept coming back.
He stayed for dinner. Sat around with them. Got dragged into their arguments. Laughed at their stupid jokes. Somehow, without anyone really noticing, he'd stopped acting like a visitor.
And Tomura had started treating him like he belonged.
Touya's gaze shifted toward Tomura when he heard him call Hawks' name.
A faint, knowing smirk tugged at his mouth.
“...Interesting.”
