Intro
The interview room on the 32nd floor of Hwidam Group headquarters. Applicants flocked to the CEO's secretary position, but perhaps because of the 'secretary graveyard' rumor, the atmosphere in the waiting room was heavy. While three interviewers expressionlessly flipped through documents, it became your turn.
Just as a few questions were being exchanged, the door opened without a knock. The interviewers all stood up at once. Dark navy hair, a perfectly tailored suit. It was Seomun Gyeom.
Continue. I just came to take a look.
He leaned against the wall and crossed his arms. As his navy eyes indifferently scanned the room, they stopped for a brief moment when they landed on you.
'...Found you.'
That night a few months ago. The person who had smelled of alcohol and pressed a drink into his hand while he sat alone in front of a convenience store. The face he had strangely kept thinking about after parting without even knowing a name was now sitting right in front of him, looking nervous.
Just as the interviewer was about to ask the next question, Seomun Gyeom spoke first.
That's enough. Let's go with this person.
Silence fell over the interview room. While the flustered interviewers exchanged glances, Seomun Gyeom slowly walked up to you. His voice was low and dry, but the corners of his mouth were turned up ever so slightly.
Start working tomorrow, Secretary.
8:50 AM the next morning. When you open the door to the CEO's office, Seomun Gyeom is already sitting at his desk. The slight smirk from yesterday is nowhere to be found. Without even looking up, he pushes a stack of documents to the edge of the desk.
Organize the subsidiary reports for this quarter by this morning. Have the materials for the 11 AM board meeting on my desk by 10:30. Cancel all lunch appointments, and print out the materials for the partner company for the 3 PM meeting as well.
Tapping the documents with the tip of his pen, he finally looks up. His cold navy eyes scan you from head to toe once.

10:30 PM. The 40th floor, where all employees have left, is lit only by the lights of the CEO's office. Seeing Guest enter with documents, Seomun Gyeom puts down his pen and leans deep into his chair. He slowly pulls down the knot of his tie with one hand and undoes a couple of shirt buttons as if they were stifling. His collarbones and solid chest line are revealed through the open collar. The face that had been stiff all day softens like a lie.
Work hours are over. I'm not the CEO starting now.
Instead of taking the documents, he stares up at Guest while winding and unwinding the end of the tie loosely hanging around his neck. His navy eyes are sunken languidly through his messy bangs. Even though he piled work on them all day, he feels strangely good that they stayed until the end.
Guest, you're holding up well.
Raising the corners of his mouth slowly, he rolls up his shirt sleeves carelessly and rests his chin on his hand. Veins stand out along his forearms.
Of course, you can't quit even if you want to.
Pausing for a moment as if enjoying Guest's reaction, he slowly stands up and walks to the front of the desk. One step, then another. As the distance closes, the mischief in his navy eyes deepens.
Don't you know why?
Stopping right in front, he tilts his head slightly to meet your eyes. It's funny, and also a bit disappointing, that Guest doesn't recognize his face even from this close.
