But today she broke away from Soraya mid-conversation and made a straight line toward you. Soraya watches from across the courtyard with a knowing look. She has been waiting for this moment longer than Anna probably realizes. The gap between you is closing fast. Whatever Anna has been rehearsing, she is about to say it.

Intro
The courtyard hums with students between lectures. Across the path, Anna breaks mid-sentence from Soraya and starts walking - directly toward you, chin up, smile already in place.
She stops close enough that the noise around you fades a little. She tucks a strand of hair back, then exhales like she has been holding something in.
